Princess Tiana

This cake is a newer version of an older cake I've done. The client simply requested that same cake except she gave me a topper to which i had to incorporate the new color scheme.

The brim of the mexican hat was made of gumpaste and royal icing.

Another Graduation Cake

This was a last minute order for a highschool grad.
This was a sheet cake with a six inch cake on top decorated as a graduation cap with its tassel.
The cap was accompanied with a diploma and a beaded boarder in his school colors.

College Grad Zebra Cake

This grad had a passion for zebra print.
Her favorite color is purple, which I incorporated in with the top and bottom border.
I also incorporated her graduating class while painting the zebra print.

I decided to make the year pop by painting zebra smaller zebra prints in the
grads two other favorite colors, orange and green.

Mickey Mouse

A mickey mouse themed cake for a two year old's birthday.

The top tier was hand carved and hand decorated with no molds.

Sam & Jay's Baby Shower

This was a baby shower cake for a couple named Sam and Jay.

Since the gender of the baby was unknown, i kept the color scheme pretty nuetral.

Instead i represented the parents in the cake, both of their names were spelled out in the baby blocks.

The four cake blocks were stacked on a quilted bed cake.

Congratulations Sam and Jay!!

Let Them Eat Cake Competition

I was lucky enough to be able to compete in a local wedding cake competition. The theme was "Historical Romances- Love Throughout the Ages" We decided to go with a Phantom of the Opera Theme
There are a few different techniques involved in this cake including; pulled sugar (candel flames), poured sugar (chandelier), and some pleating for the stage.

The topper was composed of some of the more symbolic elements of the play (or in my case the movie). The famous mask was made out of gumpaste. The rose tied with a black ribbon was also made out of gumpaste. And the letter (barely shown) was made of gumpaste with a sculpted seal.

My partner Vanessa Rosado and I standing proud next to our masterpiece!

....Unfortunately we did not win = /. But i wouldn't trade the experience for anything, and this definitely will not be the last competition you guys see me in!

~'Till next time...

Sincerely yours,
~O.G.
